I woke up late again today.
It always happens this way when I preach about getting up early and praying.
Now, I still pray–later on during the day, when I get up late–failing to get out of bed doesn’t relieve me of my responsibility. I have to force myself to breakaway and get quiet. But, every time I preach on disciplines–I have a horrible time the next week with those disciplines. This stresses the point of why we call them disciplines–they take some work to accomplish.Â
Does it hurt to get up every morning and work out?–yes. Actually, the more I do it the easier getting up comes. However, once I break the cycle; sleeping late–for whatever reason, I have to start the struggle all over again. But, I fall of the wagon at times and have to struggle all over to get back to normal.
We all struggle with the disciplines–but, as I have seen in the past, developing these disciplines into habits have payoff more than we can imagine.
That’s why they call them disciplines and that is why they’re worth pursuing.
