Reflective Belts

by Chaplain Andrews on December 28, 2008

Many people complain about having to wear reflective belts.  Reflective Belts are to be warn across the chest in a diagonal fashion over your Army Combat Uniform (ACU) at night. But, I have gotten used to it.

There are some reasons why we should not wear them.

1. This is war and the last thing you want to do is stand out to the enemy. (We are on a FOB,not the jungles of Vietnam.)

2.Wearing a “PT” (Physical Training)belt is cumbersome and needless. (Get over it–see below.)

3. PT belts are for PT only and should not be warn with the ACU at all. (So put your PT cap away next time you are cold.)

4. “I forgot mine.” (That is why the Army supplied a pocket on the bottom of your ACU pants leg to put your Reflective Belt in during the day–aren’t they smart!)

There is one reason, why I have gotten to like to wear mine.

1. I don’t want to get run over by a truck.

Is there a reg on this somewhere?

The only regulation regarding “Reflective Belts” was an internal FOB SOP from the FOB Mayor–which happened to be our Battalion Commander at the time.
