Sounds like ITB Syndrome (Iliotibial Band Syndrome). Affects a lot of runners and clsiycts. It results from the ITB running down the outside of your thigh rubbing against lateral epicondyle of the femur (google any anatomy questions). It results from poor biomechanics. You got good shoes now hopefully. You need massage and stretching of your hips and ITB, stretching of your quads glutes and strengthening of your hip abductors, quads, glut med and glutes.
